Summers here!!! How to in Small Spaces #1

So school is out! Handsome Gentleman friend has been spoiling the shit out of me. So to celebrate school being out, we went and saw the Adam Carolla Show live, with special guest Mike Rowe!!!

Absolutely amazing!!! It was an awesome show :3 now we're getting ready for our trip to ALASKA!!!! :D holy shit!!!

So I'm posting from my phone in my living room. I just finished planting my tomatoes that have been sitting around for about a month. So here it is-

How to grow Tomatoes in a small space

1. Buy 5 gallon plastic buckets from local hardware store

2. Drill holes in the bottom

3. Fill with potting soil from local hardware store (or costco)

4. Plant the babies!

Ill keep you guys up to date on how it goes. My squash is doing well, planted about a week and already in bloom!

Holidays, Finals and General Crazyness

Hey all! sorry for the neglect, still gunna blame the no internet at the abode.

To begin!! Gentleman Friend took me to see the Ace Man as teased before. It was a wonderful show, we laughed the whole time! A great show, and before hand we had delish burgers at a place in Northbeach called Burger Meister, I recomend it :)

Later that week was Thanksgiving, one of my favorite holidays, because i love food. We had 19 people, 2 turkeys, a ham, a goose and fried chicken!! (courtisy of GF) I made Great Grandma's dressing, a Chai Cake and a Buttermilk Pie. I had never had buttermilk pie, and its darn good!! and Super Easy!! So here is the Recipe from REAL SIMPLE magazine. because Im old school-

Raspberry Buttermilk Pie

Whicsk together-
1 1/2C Buttermilk
3/4C Sugar
1/2C Butter (one stick)
1/4C Flour
5 Eggs YOLKS
1tsp Vanilla Extract
1/4tsp Kosher Salt

Pour into a pie crust (make and parbake or buy a crust like i did)

Bake at 325f untill center is set but wobbly (like jello!) or 40-50 minutes. Lets chill for 4-5 hours+ Top with Raspberry Jam and toasted slivered or sliced almonds.

Before baking and after

So good!!! So here are some thanksgiving pictures at the Aunts house. :)

So good!! My sister even stopped by! Crazyness. it was to eat and run, but still! on Friday I was supposed to work, but got locked out of my house. to cheer me up, and see my mama, Steve took me to meet up with them and we went for a walk out on Point Pinole. So delightful!

The following Saturday GF and I went to see one of our FAVORITE bands, Richard Cheese and Lounge Against the Machine!! If you dont know who they are, jump on the youtube... now!! Ill wait... ok, it was a super rad, with dinner again at Burger Meister. (since bimbos is like a block from Cobb's) Cheese and the band were great, and Bimbos is a cool place, very prohabition era, but they cram to many people in there. Its kind of pricey for sharing a table with 5 other people, and not being able to get to the ladies room....

So ya, this is what has been up!! Ill leave you with a SUUUUPER cute Mr. Pickles picture

Untidy Mobil Update

Hey all! It's a late night, Izzy can't sleep update from the iPhone! So what's new in the land of nuttiness? Well the ever wonderful Gentleman Friend took me to see the Ace man himself!!! Adam Carolla!!! I know many people don't like the man show guy but I'm a huge fan!!! And gf got us front row center table seats at Cobbs!! We were right at sac level! Lol! Ill go into more detail soon with pictures but it was amazing, I'm a very lucky girl.

Also in the news, we helped clean some of Joann's things out for Terri. I ended up with the four 30 year old spiders plants from her sons funeral. Their beautiful and enormous!!! I also was left a little tv, and an iMac g5 I'm going to try and sell to help pay for a desktop for school!! Woot!!!

A lot has been going on, ill try and keep up :3

Managing Time like a FIEND!!

So much stuff going on! But I stole a quiet moment in corporate coffee shop to just sit, drink some iced tea and blog.. And download podcasts :3 Lets see, lemme complain about all the things i have gotten myself into these days.

Im working on the promo materials for the guy who did my car alarm a few weeks back (months? geeze this is dragging out) Its a cute little project, but one more thing on my list these days.

School is amazing but going by so quickly!! Tonight I need to catch up on a painting that I neglected last week, draw some thumbnails and be prepared to do some make up as Im going to be missing some more in the future... :/ Sad but the way things are, bte missing because GF is being presented with an awesome award and picking my mother up from the airport, so 2 biggies for me!!! Plus the usual sketchbook stuff for heads and hands (which actually i cant complain, he's not a great teacher but the homework is sooooo much lighter then a good teacher which is great at this moment). Plus thumbnails for Digital Media, and not to forget the weekly essay for Art History (aaaarrrrrggg, MADONNAS!!!!) But these are my regular weekly things, the constant maintanance. Plus I need to keep doodling for my side project

My Mother is coming. Which is GREAT but my house is a DISASTER. Like homeless viking bachorlars have been living there. Who knew one busy chick and 2 cats could make so many dishes... lol!! (I personally hate doing dishes) oh ya, and the gerbil, 2 bettas, the hermit crabs and Jaws the goldfish....

Craft show on the 1st! Which is going to be tons of fun, and hopefully give me a little cash boost right before the holidays. But this means I have to make crafts! which I have been "planning" since summer but have been putting off.... for like... till last thursday? Fashion Rachel came over and we crafted some, I cranked out about 40ish really cute items, now i just have to finish packaging them and make some of my signature lino prints. I havnt printed in a few years now, but my tools are still sharp and ready for action! actually they may need a little sharpening... but thats ok, I can do this too :) )

Work is insanity. They have been doubling my hours (boooo for my time, yay for my eating) and its Holidays. This means the crazys are out, I get yelled at in Chinese and Russian, and homeless people try and pay in space diamonds. (True true and true, all have already happened) On a sad note one of my coworkers had a stroke at work the other day. they caught it super early so he will be alright, but inhis get well card we all teased him about getting out of the "All hands on deck" days (everyone better be there because we made things to cheap!) and Holiday hours.

The cats have been insane, and this is kind of a stressor. Kitler i think is developing and eating disorder, he is just food OBSESSED. To the point of eating erasers, plastic and more. I know its because he's bored, but Pickles is copying him and getting kind of sick (isnt the old cat supposed to teach the young one to be GOOD???) I just need to spend more time with them i guess. Poor guys.

Things are busy, but its good! I actually feel really good about things, and the stress isnt a depressing, smothering stress I have had in the past. Life is full but really really good! I finally have a saturday off just in time for GF to take me to see ADAM CAROLLA LIVE PODCAST!! Im not sure is you know.. but Im a huge Adam Carolla fan. I havnt gotten to see a live show since 09, and this is going to be soooooo goood!!!! Bald Brian, Alison Rosen, and all the Mikes will be there, so good! And with my tall handsome hero who has decided he is going to invite everyone over to watch football on Sunday. I like this plan. They wont come, but I like the idea that he wants to invite celebs to his mancave, which DOES have a Theater sized tv projector.

BTW going to start having some home made Christmas gift recipes and idea's for those of you who are as broke as I am :3 Mmmm just got a free frap from the awesome barista's :)

First Ever PodCast Review Pt-1

So as anyone who knows me knows, I listen to waaaaayyy to many podcasts. :)  As a starving art student (who's not really starving) I dont have internet at the house, and my TV isn't digital ready and no cable. So podcasts are a FREE fun way to spend time. I also commute for up to 3 hours a day to and from work and school, and my iPod is my best friend.

First up I have to give it up to the first podcast I ever listened to, and began the obsession. I'm a HUGE Adam Carolla fan. No I dont agree with all his policies, but its a damn funny comedy show! Plus they have a great staff, its 5 days a week (lots of show for meeee!) and has always been, and will always be free! The show is all about comedy and long form interviews. The show usually opens up with a rant from Adam, with his news gal Alison Rosen (keep that name in mind) and sound effects guy Bald Bryan (remember that too!) chipping in with their 2 cents. Once a week or so the music reviewer David Wild will drop in to discuss music, sometimes Dave Damashek will stop by to discuss sports, and untill his accident Larry Miller was a frequent friend of the show. After they get the buiseness out of the way, they get to the guest interview. I know so much more now about all kinds of comedians, actors, musicians (Ben Folds is a good friend of the pod cast, as well as Francis Ford Copila, Brian Cransen and more!) They finish it up with the best news stories ever, rants from Adam and some bashing of the producers, Dawson, Lynch and Matt the Porcelain Punisher.

On Carolla, I also listen to a few of his spin off shows, which are once a week. The CarCast is a show dedicated to Adam's love cars, mostly Nissan's and old Datsun's, and vintage racing. If you dig cars I say go get it now!! If you dont care about cars, don't bother really. Its interviews with customisers, people who create special parts, restorers, and more. They also occasionally go on the road to the Vintage races. Adams co-host is Matt Diandria, who you may or may not know from the short lived Car Show on Spike. The other spin off is Ace on the house, with Adam and his childhood friend Ray giving out home improvement advice. Its a lot of comedy, more then the car cast, and if your even mildly interested in DIY and like the ACS Go for it!!

Next up also produced on the ACE Digital Network is Alison Rosen is Your New Best Friend, also known as ARYNBF (not arian boyfriend!) The news gal Alison is all her own on this show! Its supposedly a relationship show, but its mostly comedy with FABULOUS things like the topic sombrero (SOMBRERO!) talk of baby ducks and puppies, and long form interviews with interesting people. There are adorable theme songs and is just about amazing. I love Alison, her honesty about insecurities, ability to bring so much out of her interviewee's (is that a word? it is now) and basic awesomeness. I highly recommend this podcast to EVERYONE. Unless you hate comedy. Then you can go kill yourself. (This is a weekly show BTW)

Another on the ACE Digital network, another weekly, The Film Vault. TFV stars soundman and side kick Bald Bryan, Anderson from Loveline and Bryan's brain tumor. Not really the last one, bad running joke. Essentially this is a movie review show, with loads of comedy, ball busting and general fun. Also an unhealthy obsession with astronaut ice cream. I have actually followed some of their advice on some films with great results. They are very opinionated, and some of their opinions are... .Not the same as mine... but I like them non the less. Also a fun little bonus, they feature garage bands as their intro and outro music. With fun games between the hosts and both new and old movie reviews, check it out!

Larry Miller is a wonderful, corn fed, home grown sort of guy. Once a week his podcast is something I look forward to for a warm and fuzzy feeling. He makes you feel like your part of the family, sitting in a living room listening to his tales of the road, family and comedians. You will feel so good about life after this! and You have the opportunity to join the Larry Miller Drinking Society. It has a fun nostalgia that will have you wanting to put on a suit and have a real martini, shaken not stirred (explained on an episode). Larry had an accident a few month ago, so they have been playing the best of until he's back on his feet, so this is an EXCELLENT time to get caught up! I actually have been re-listening to them because they are so good. Listen to This Week with Larry Miller. Plus its family friendly

Lastly I THINK on the ACEDN is the Dana Gould Hour (which isnt an hour, and is a bi-monthly). Comedian Dana Gould Chats with fellow comedians, has crazy little bits and basically seems to be having to much fun!! Its much more produced then other podcasts, and has a very different flavor. Its almost like a sketch show for your ears! Honestly one of my favorite bits is the Two Guys From Boston. Every show has a theme, which is brought around by obscure references, silly stories and random chat. I also love when they have horrible things read by children, like Apocalypse now. The Bi-monthly airing is good for those who are busy and may not have time for many podcasts, and this show will open your eyes to some comedians, films and humor you may now have had access to before.

Now we get to the weekly podcast of the lovely Christopher Titus, The Titus Podcast. Yes, comedian Titus is back! Did he ever go? No not really, but it sounded good. With the tag line "Never unbiased always unbalanced", his super model girlfriend Bombshell Ray, and Stuntman Tommy; Titus yells and makes fun of the upcoming apocalypse's. He actually gets some scary information about our government, banking system and other important things to us in a HI-larios way. Stuntman Tommy chips in with his hero of the week, which is usually a dog or horse or dead guy... or isnt a hero because he misread the article. And Bombshell Ray usually inputs something off putting but amazing! I love them so much!! GO DOWNLOAD NOW!!!

Oh Marc Maron. So neurotic, so compulsive, so amazing. The WTF podcast is one of the BEST long form interview shows around. Marc brings out some amazing details of peoples lives from his little garage at the cat ranch. The show usually opens with Marc ranting and freaking out about his life, when goes into the interview. This doesn't sound like a lot of fun, but it REALLY is! Marc has a history as an angry comedian, and has some history with some of the people he interviews which isn't always positive. Its really interesting to see him trying to both make amends and kind of stand by his old self. His humanity and vulnerability make you fall in love with him like a sad puppy. BTW Jessica sounds like a hoot! Go download now!!

So here are my non-NPR shows. If you have any recommendations PLEASE lemme know! Also, no one pays me for this, this is just for my love of pods.

New Phone!

Yay!! Im gunna miss my old phone, my little Pantech. It lived a long, wonderful life, never letting me down and will be well cared for as a back up. I had to renew the contract so in addition I got to upgrade my phone after 2 years so I did. I gave in and got an iPhone. I have been resisting, but they were .99 so even with tax and a cover, cheapest. And my phone plan is staying the same (was gunna save $10 a month, but iphone is an extra 10 so even steven). It does have a Blogger app, so I can update more regularly hopefully!! also, perhaps pictures will be better. Im ambivolent about it though.

Schools been rough, and the online system keeps failing. I may have missed my midterm online if it didnt send which is ONLY 10% of my GRADE!!! Fu...... .. . . ... . . Anywho, what ever. Whats done is done. Color and design is going. I need to adhere to the teacher a bit more and do what he likes, but he cant really mark me down for doing the project in my own esthetic. but ill do better if I do his... :( grrr politics. (art can be seen over at Dont Eat The Charcoal)

So on Monday ate at a wonderful food truck called Mustard Mayo. We had headed out to try and find the food truck Bacon Bacon for a bacon grilled cheese, but their times were wrong on the website. (Arg... I hate that, pet peeve!!) but lucky we ended up eating DELIGHTFUL tritip sandwiches. :) They had perfect tritip, with some jalapeno, sweet peppers, wasabi mayo, grilled onions and more. the flavors are complex yet combine perfectly :) Sorry, slid into annoying essay format there.

So at local coffee shop, and they are debuting a wonderful fruit and green coffee drink. I enjoy the lime one, but honestly havnt tried the berry one yet. and DAMN this place is packed.

So, Gentleman Friend is once again the most AMAZING man in the HISTORY OF THE UNIVERSE. Not only are we heading to see Pat Benetar and the Steve Miller band tomorrow!! (and a Japanese street fair AND possibly the Winchester mystery house, and smashed pennies for sure ;) ) but he also may have tickets for ADAM LAKERS CAROLLA!!! Im a minor fan is you dont know. You may disagree, you may have a conception of his comedy, but what everyone seems to forget about comedians is that... Their COMEDIANS. Dont take their shit seriosly. I heart Ace. and my book is TOTALLY coming to be signed. and possibly the other book if I can get it. :)

a cute truck I saw in the city

Until next time, Mahalo
