Wildebeest Go!

Allow me to convolute and confuse this story. I bought a Wildebeest. Not a real Wildebeest, but a plastic one. Im having a naming contest now, so if you have any ideas post below! Anywho, why did I buy a Wildebeest? Well, as people should know by now, San Francisco is firkin expensive. it is currently the most expensive place to live in the US. Downtown here in SF, there is (for now) a FANTASTIC toy store on market street called Jeffry's. Jeffry's Toys is like the toy stow you see in the movies, plashes and puzzles and stacks of dinosaurs, the best. But sadly all good things must end. After 40 years of being an SF institution, their rent has been raised to $40k a month. Thats right, FOURTY THOUSAND DOLLARS. Monthly. So they have decided its just not worth it and will be closing their doors at the end of the month.

This is devastating for me. Sadly i didn't have the opportunity to grow up with them, but since moving to the city this is a place i bring out of town friends, go when I'm down, and play with the dinosaurs and plashes and read comics and generally be a nuisance to the poor sales people. and this little oasis in a sea of hipster beards, $6 coffee and artesianal toast bars is leaving. The only ray of sunshine in this typhoon is.. every things 30% off.

So I went by to see how things were. As of now the store is pretty well stocked, it will be weird watching it till its end of days become empty as its such a full store, every shelf packed. I walked by the plastic animal rack, looking honestly for dinosaurs and things like that when i saw a row of Wildebeest. Most of the 4 inch plastic animals are about $6-10 depending but all of these guys were marked $2.50, which means their under the $2 mark with the 30% off. Perfect time to pick up a new travel companion. So i bought a wildebeest! He (actually I just looked up the toy, its a female apparently!) so SHE has her own blog:

Be sure to add it to your insane tumblr feed. Im trying to get the hang of tumblr but its so fast paced and add and I just don't have the patience or the time to check every 45 minutes to keep up with the insane tumbling... but maybe Wildebeest will.

I missed blogging, and Im glad Im back to it. Lets see if I can keep it up  more then once a month... Also on that note, one of my favorite bloggers is back, Rachele of the late Near Sighted Owl has a new blog Lady Bits And I'm so happy because i love her writing. Also for a more realistic update schedule of my happenings check out Handsome Gentleman Friends Blog. He's way better at updates then I am, plus he takes care of the brew blog Terrible Lizard.

Much better!

Thanks for the happy thoughts all, feeling better! School has started, Monday was figure painting, and I had to buy $70 in supplies i wasnt expecting (gaaahhhh!!!) and I feel like more will be to come from the other classes. but its good, and Im going to be forced to learn oil painting. lucky our teacher is very into safety and not into chemicals so we are using no turps and no liquin, the two excuses for me not to oil paint... (aside from my dislike of it and the drying period)

Im making rice in my crockpot.. I'll let ya know how it goes, because I am TERRIBLE at making rice for some reason.. I used to be good at it....

So im working an a list of exspensive things I want, lol.. not like Lambo's and Rings, but things that are obtainable...

Yep, Im a lady of simple needs, shit to do the job I want to do, things to record adventures, hand held video games, things to make things and underwear.... LMAO!!

How to spend all of your monies in 3 days

First off my T button still is acting funny, so sorry if I dont catch all of the silly typos. its amazing how many times you use a T. This week has been an expensive one for me. I thought I was good and bought a beautiful pair of boots to get around town in. I love them and will wear the shit out of them like I do my brown ones, but if I had known what was to come I would have waited.  My Union randomly decided I needed to pay them $266 in a week or they would cancel my membership and so fire me from selling shoes from my corporate department store. I was up on my dues, so Im not sure why the squeeze... but its paid. Then I paid the water bill, and there apparently was a typo and I over paid by like $50 it turns out... which will be good for later but GEEZE... Now I get to get the car worked on and pay the ticket i go for expired tags.... lol... plus the phone bill was almost $100 more then usual (have to ask them about THAT)

All in all Im broke... good thing I have Christmas figured out for the most part!!

But this is a great excuse to use my delightful dried goods that I got for my birthday so long ago. I also have part of a turkey which will become soup and enchilada's this week, then im really excited about making this wonderful looking recipe from Crockpot 365. Here if you dont feel like clicking the link.

2 cups lentils, rinsed
1/2 cup diced celery
1/2 cup diced carrot
1 onion, peeled and diced
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 (28-ounce) can diced tomatoes (with juice!)
1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
2 teaspoons paprika
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
2 cups hearty torn greens, like kale or chard (if you'd prefer spinach, stir in before serving)
4 cups vegetable or chicken broth (optional: add another 1 to 2 cups of broth if you'd like before serving)

The Directions.

Use a 6-quart slow cooker. Put the rinsed lentils into the bottom of an empty insert. Add the diced celery, carrot, onion, and garlic (if you have a food processor, it might be helpful to use). Add the entire can of diced tomatoes, and add the seasonings and torn greens. Stir in the broth (I used chicken, but any broth will work just fine).
Cover, and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours, or until the lentils are soft. If you'd like to stretch this to feed more, or for a thinner soup, feel free to add more broth.

Serve with grated Parmesan cheese, if desired, and a hunk of garlic bread.

This will be perfect as I have everything already except canned tomatoes, which are CHEAP!! I have been growing Dinosaur Kale, which is the best of the kales in my opinion. They have the most texture, perfect for soups.

Sorry so whinney, feeling the pressure and instead of freaking out about classes as I prolly should be, this is what Im obsessing over. Geeze Im weird.

If your looking for something interesting to listen to, check out the Studio 360 podcats, which are free, weekley and AMAZING. As Im typing this I am listening to a special on I Love Lucy, and Curt Andersen is talking to people who worked on he show, playing clips, talking to feminists about their veiws- positive and negative- about it, just so good!!! Most people know Im SO IN LOVE WITH PODCASTS!! Their free-ness, the stories, the time filling :3

Still no job. Corporate Petshop is evil and the manager out here can kiss my happy white ass. Jerking me around, bah! I'll get all ghettoblaster on him. lol. Not really, I'll write a strongly worded email to corporate and apply for other jobs. Im a weinie...

Anywho, pictures are coming from the trip, plus stories of stories of stories... Cats are good, Herman is king and Cooper is still as fuzzy and incoherant as ever. Most of my lovely plants didnt make the trip, but the green spidey did, aloe vera wang, and the chicken farm are doing nice. I also have some spideys from Joanne, which are from a 30 year old plant from her oldest son's memorial... memorial spideys!! Their feisty buggers too. Pictures are coming. And Im terrible and got a goldfish. A little humpbacked Ranchu who is too cute for words. He will have a 10 gallon soon, and grow to be a beast!! mwahahaha!!!

Ok, so back to school stuff. My school has free buses for me around the city. Also, free workshops, free exercise and who knows what else! Well, not free, part of my ungodly tuition I'll be paying off for the rest of my eternity. I plan on taking advantage of as much as possible. I wanna be hot, fit, smart and oh so talented. Also, kinda thinking about Viola lessions.... Prolly not, but OMG it would be awesome.

BTW, check out crockpot365.blogger.com and see what I live off of, aka my food bible. This gal rocks.

Dashed dreams

There is a very good chance I will not be able to go to the school I got accepted to. Im still going to California, but I can only get a tiny amount of finacial aide, and I cant get a privet loan. I am not going to spend 6 years in school just because I am broke, its not worth it. By the time I am out my leads and contacts in the industry will have died and dried up. Some dreams arnt worth keeping alive. I was crazy to think I could follow my heart as a white woman. I just dont qualify.
