The Skip in a Song

Today while walking down the street, headphones in my head holes, in was listening to Marc Maron. I heart WTF and Marc. Anywho, he was talking to Mic Jagger! Holy crap! And after the 10 minute interview, Mic graciously hung up and Marc did his thing, going through his thoughts. My favorite part BTW. Marc mentioned listening to an album in his youth and it having a skip at a very specific point, and for two decades after waiting for that skip in other versions.

I also have songs, mine bad tapes and shitty CD copies. Songs I can time based on clicks and scratches, that's what made your copy unique. Also music was more sacred. Now its disposable. I know people who go through songs like they are potato chips. I grew up with parents who were very into music, hell, Dad toured with Buddy Miles, Uriah Heep and worked with Janis Joplin. But we were also broke as shit, and therefor each album, cassette and CD were like gold. The first Album I bought with my own money was the Beetlejuice sound track. Followed by Harry Belafonte. But I wanted the movie album because i could get the most variety of music for my buck. This tend continued for a long time for me, some of the life changers were the Twister Sound Track- My first into to Van Halen, Matrix Soundtrack- oh metal! and the Drew Carry Show Soundtrack, thats an amazing collection of early rock. Each one had imperfections I would wait for with my CD Walkman in hand. 

I still don't get music "In Bulk". Actually I came into some iTunes gift cards thanks to Handsome Gentleman Friend, and have been buying up songs one at a time. Just singles. I was for a while buying them once a week, and obsessing over it for a week or so then moving on. After quitting horrible corporate job I have been more conservative, though this morning, as if bringing this Maron quote into being, I got some songs I had been lusting after since high school, blasting when I could catch them not he radio but never made it into my collection. 

Any suggestions of singles to add to my collections? Im big into 60, 70, 80s rock 

No Time For Back Up!!

I dont know why I posted that except Ive always wanted a reason to scream it. So! Been crazy busy these days, finals are coming up, Gentleman Friend spoiling the crap out of me and work, Im not an idle girl! This last weekend sweet sweet GF and I headed up to my homeland. First stop was to see my sister, the lovely horse trainer and... eeeerrrr.... perfectionist. I had warned GF about her... sharpness? So he was plently prepared, and she was really lovely. We also got to see the taco eating pony Rubicon win a class! I didnt get a picture but GF could stand OVER Rubies and not touch him... So tall and so short... lol! But it was really nice to see Tess, we have been building up our relationship the last few years and actually acting like sisters.

Next we headed downtown and met up with Lawyer Rachel!! :D Also not mentioned, but before my move to Detroit, she put me up for about 6 months off and on. I lived on her lovely Murphy bed and played with kittens who are now cats. GF met her for the first time as well, and we watched baseball while taking football. I think they liked each other! She's one of he few people I really care about approval from. lol. But it was great, I need to get up to Sac more often. Also, Her kitty Spectro needs a home, her allergies are getting to much, so please message me if you want a really cute 2.5 year old kitty!!!

Around 2 we visited the STATE FAIR! I've not mentioned it here, but I used to show my pygmy goats out there years ago now, and have a sad nostalgia for it. I do realize its a total money sink, and it was HOT AS HELL. About 108 in Sactown, which means prolly  115 out on the blacktop of CalExpo. But we had a TON of fun! Funk.Defied was playing (their so hot!) and  we watched that show, and we saw the forestry center and got tiny Sugar Pines, ate FRIED SNICKERS and FRIED COOKIES DOUGH, visited the farm, pet sturgens, visited the goats, and spent a lot of time in the buildings with the air conditioning. I loved it so much!! We even got home about 9 or so.

Adventure, Food, Mystery and Music

So this weekend may be one of the greatest weekends ever!!! So Saturday I ditched work at corporate dept. store and went with Gentleman Friend to San Jose. We went to the Winchester Mystery house first, my first time. (Really Izzy? as a native Californian into weird shit you never went? Well no, I was raised by raccoons and that would have cost money) Its a super cool building. Old Lady Winchester, while crazy, was also a genius. They never talk about all her water saving measures, recycling and what not during the 1890's! I'll have better pictures but here is GF on the cooky stairs in all his largeness. Turns out a guy who is 6'7'' may be a little large for a house build around a 4'11' woman. We took the 2 part tour, and the second tour guide told us to watch our heads and him to watch his shoulders. lol. Anywho...

After a long day of crusing around the Winchester Estate, we had some dinner and headed to the concert!!! Opening band was the Greg Kihn band, local radio host and guitarist, followed by an EXCELLLENT set by Pat Benatar and then Steve Miller Band. Just have to say they all have great lungs still and put on an amazing show. It lasted from 7-11:30! So amazing. We also ate a delish meal of BBQ pulled pork, yams, saute'd mushrooms and onions, and rice. OMG. One of the best meals ever! and I wasn't even hungry!! Also the Monterey Bay Aquarium was advertizing their Jellie's with a really cool parade through the stadium

Last night I headed out with the coworkers after work. Their pretty rad. Peter bought me a pair of beers, and Tai (pronounced Tay) Chatted up the bartender who decided to feed us her home made AMAZING spicy spaghetti. Tour'e and Jerry were there also. Super fun chatting and bonding with the boys. we hung out for an hour or two and I got to get to know them. Jerry walked me to BART (the train) and along the way we took pictures of the court house and a cool inflatable sculpture from the Asian Art Museum. FYI taking the midnight train after a few drinks is a little bit nerve wracking! There are some scary people on those trains at night. Some of them give long winded speaches about their life stories too... un-interesting life stories about drugs and jail. Boring drugs and jail. and So loud they drown out the Ace-man. Thats a feat. 

Tour'e, Peter and Jerry

Today is a tuesday while Im typing, and that means dance class with Aunt Nan and lunch to boot! We usually east at a wonderful little deli called the New Deli, which everyone in the world should head to. Go. Now. Hop a plan and fly to Pinole. Or into SFO or Oakland and drive over, either way, lol. But today we decided to try something new, and hit up a wonderful little taco joint Called La Esmerelda. I did mention I LOVE TACOS Right??? And some amazing little tacos I did consume. I tried a Chorizo, a steak and a carnitas. All were amazing, a little spicy and perfectly seasoned. I will be returning for sure! Plus look at the carmelized onions, marinated jalapeno and fresh radish!! Mmmmm.... Anywho... After a fab lunch, dropped by the house to say hi to Patch, my favorite little old lady and went out to try and find a birthday gift for Aunt Sue. She's a tough lady to shop for but I think I found something good. At OSH I saw some of the most beautiful Orchids I've ever seen. Look at that Blue!!!! Anyway, super picture heavy because Im playing with my new phone :) have a good day!
