First Ever PodCast Review Pt-1
So as anyone who knows me knows, I listen to waaaaayyy to many podcasts. :) As a starving art student (who's not really starving) I dont have internet at the house, and my TV isn't digital ready and no cable. So podcasts are a FREE fun way to spend time. I also commute for up to 3 hours a day to and from work and school, and my iPod is my best friend.
First up I have to give it up to the first podcast I ever listened to, and began the obsession. I'm a HUGE Adam Carolla fan. No I dont agree with all his policies, but its a damn funny comedy show! Plus they have a great staff, its 5 days a week (lots of show for meeee!) and has always been, and will always be free! The show is all about comedy and long form interviews. The show usually opens up with a rant from Adam, with his news gal Alison Rosen (keep that name in mind) and sound effects guy Bald Bryan (remember that too!) chipping in with their 2 cents. Once a week or so the music reviewer David Wild will drop in to discuss music, sometimes Dave Damashek will stop by to discuss sports, and untill his accident Larry Miller was a frequent friend of the show. After they get the buiseness out of the way, they get to the guest interview. I know so much more now about all kinds of comedians, actors, musicians (Ben Folds is a good friend of the pod cast, as well as Francis Ford Copila, Brian Cransen and more!) They finish it up with the best news stories ever, rants from Adam and some bashing of the producers, Dawson, Lynch and Matt the Porcelain Punisher.
On Carolla, I also listen to a few of his spin off shows, which are once a week. The CarCast is a show dedicated to Adam's love cars, mostly Nissan's and old Datsun's, and vintage racing. If you dig cars I say go get it now!! If you dont care about cars, don't bother really. Its interviews with customisers, people who create special parts, restorers, and more. They also occasionally go on the road to the Vintage races. Adams co-host is Matt Diandria, who you may or may not know from the short lived Car Show on Spike. The other spin off is Ace on the house, with Adam and his childhood friend Ray giving out home improvement advice. Its a lot of comedy, more then the car cast, and if your even mildly interested in DIY and like the ACS Go for it!!
Next up also produced on the ACE Digital Network is Alison Rosen is Your New Best Friend, also known as ARYNBF (not arian boyfriend!) The news gal Alison is all her own on this show! Its supposedly a relationship show, but its mostly comedy with FABULOUS things like the topic sombrero (SOMBRERO!) talk of baby ducks and puppies, and long form interviews with interesting people. There are adorable theme songs and is just about amazing. I love Alison, her honesty about insecurities, ability to bring so much out of her interviewee's (is that a word? it is now) and basic awesomeness. I highly recommend this podcast to EVERYONE. Unless you hate comedy. Then you can go kill yourself. (This is a weekly show BTW)
Another on the ACE Digital network, another weekly, The Film Vault. TFV stars soundman and side kick Bald Bryan, Anderson from Loveline and Bryan's brain tumor. Not really the last one, bad running joke. Essentially this is a movie review show, with loads of comedy, ball busting and general fun. Also an unhealthy obsession with astronaut ice cream. I have actually followed some of their advice on some films with great results. They are very opinionated, and some of their opinions are... .Not the same as mine... but I like them non the less. Also a fun little bonus, they feature garage bands as their intro and outro music. With fun games between the hosts and both new and old movie reviews, check it out!
Larry Miller is a wonderful, corn fed, home grown sort of guy. Once a week his podcast is something I look forward to for a warm and fuzzy feeling. He makes you feel like your part of the family, sitting in a living room listening to his tales of the road, family and comedians. You will feel so good about life after this! and You have the opportunity to join the Larry Miller Drinking Society. It has a fun nostalgia that will have you wanting to put on a suit and have a real martini, shaken not stirred (explained on an episode). Larry had an accident a few month ago, so they have been playing the best of until he's back on his feet, so this is an EXCELLENT time to get caught up! I actually have been re-listening to them because they are so good. Listen to This Week with Larry Miller. Plus its family friendly
Lastly I THINK on the ACEDN is the Dana Gould Hour (which isnt an hour, and is a bi-monthly). Comedian Dana Gould Chats with fellow comedians, has crazy little bits and basically seems to be having to much fun!! Its much more produced then other podcasts, and has a very different flavor. Its almost like a sketch show for your ears! Honestly one of my favorite bits is the Two Guys From Boston. Every show has a theme, which is brought around by obscure references, silly stories and random chat. I also love when they have horrible things read by children, like Apocalypse now. The Bi-monthly airing is good for those who are busy and may not have time for many podcasts, and this show will open your eyes to some comedians, films and humor you may now have had access to before.
Now we get to the weekly podcast of the lovely Christopher Titus, The Titus Podcast. Yes, comedian Titus is back! Did he ever go? No not really, but it sounded good. With the tag line "Never unbiased always unbalanced", his super model girlfriend Bombshell Ray, and Stuntman Tommy; Titus yells and makes fun of the upcoming apocalypse's. He actually gets some scary information about our government, banking system and other important things to us in a HI-larios way. Stuntman Tommy chips in with his hero of the week, which is usually a dog or horse or dead guy... or isnt a hero because he misread the article. And Bombshell Ray usually inputs something off putting but amazing! I love them so much!! GO DOWNLOAD NOW!!!
Oh Marc Maron. So neurotic, so compulsive, so amazing. The WTF podcast is one of the BEST long form interview shows around. Marc brings out some amazing details of peoples lives from his little garage at the cat ranch. The show usually opens with Marc ranting and freaking out about his life, when goes into the interview. This doesn't sound like a lot of fun, but it REALLY is! Marc has a history as an angry comedian, and has some history with some of the people he interviews which isn't always positive. Its really interesting to see him trying to both make amends and kind of stand by his old self. His humanity and vulnerability make you fall in love with him like a sad puppy. BTW Jessica sounds like a hoot! Go download now!!
So here are my non-NPR shows. If you have any recommendations PLEASE lemme know! Also, no one pays me for this, this is just for my love of pods.

3000 Pageviews?!?!
Friday Night Gentleman Friend came over and I made Tandoori Chicken, yum!! But I messed up the rice (really? rice??!?) and didnt make enough. The chicken was quite delightful though.... So afterwords we walked over to the movie store and rented Hidalgo (yes the sad horse movie.. Im a girl, I love horse movies) and I forced him to watch it. He's an amazing man and powered through it. But on the way home from said rental store we stopped at Nations Giant Hamburgers for some AMAZING burgers and Strawberry Cheese cake. These guys have the BEST pie....
In local news, Saturday Gentleman Friend took me to see my beloved DETROIT LIONS!! They played the Raiders in Oakland so we ventured into the Black hole.... For those who don't know, Raiders fans are known for being... Enthusiastic? And a little violent... He asked me kindly to not wear my bootleg Detroit hat and I agreed, only to find I was in good company! So many Detroit fans out in full gear!! :D He got us seats so close we could almost smell my beloved Lions. I kinda wish i did bring the hat, maybe i could have gotten an autograph.. Prolly not... Oh well, next time ;) GF is a HUGE football fan, but he's at heart an Eagles man. Yes, you may feel sorry for him ;) kidding handsome!!! Ya, he's teaching me all about sports. We ate garlic fries and had a grand time! The weather was perfect as well, which is good because they had forcast it being rather gloomy, which is great except when you want to be outside for 3 hours.... Especially in Oakland, that wind is cutting. (BTW Oakland Ca, not Oakland Mi)
After the game we went to Albany Pizza Co and had wonderful HUGE slices of their delightful pizza. Gowd I love that place! Yummo!!! With our bellies full we headed to my place to watch a few movies. For the record, Hamlet 2 is AMAZING! How have I not seen this yet? Crazyness. Also Midgets Vs Mascots is a mockumentory worth the time. Gary Coleman leads. GARY COLEMAN. Go watch it. Now. :)
Oh oh is Magic, you knoooooow....
Also I was distracted but here are some cars from last week. OMG I love cars!! The First one is a quarter mile racer, '74 Ford GTO. The orange guy is a 70's Mustang and The little guy is an Austin :)
And lastly, some snackies and goodness. On the way to court (grumblegrumblerapistsgrumble) I grabbed the breakfast of champions! Dill Pickle Chips!!! :D OMG and their super yummy too!! And the bag is cool. Also yesterday on the way to work I snagged something I have been trying to get my hands on for a while, coconut M & M's!! Their chocolate with coconut, and sooooooooo good. Also threw in a Kitler picture to round out my total wussyness

ANGRY HONDA RANT Mobile
Hello all!! This post is from my phone, as today was the court date for Darlene's rapists!! Well, one it turns out...
So my day began waaaaay to early with having to drive to ValleCUNT. Over the bridge and through the woods.... Lol anywho, I arrive and have to find my way through a maze of white legal buildings to check in with the DA since I'm a witness in this whole thing. I finally find it after some help from a nice security guard and check in. The clerk gave me a funny look when she looked at the subpoena but stamped it and told me to go across the street and strait down the hall to district 7.
I go to the court building and through the security (dresses are a god send for these things, nothing to set it off!) and there is no strait, it's a y. Fu DA clerk. So I do find district 7 (on the left ) and am crazy early. My session is 10 and it's only 9. So I listened to Marc Maron and sat. And sat. And then? Sat. Just before 10 they took a break and I got to wait in the hall and listen to the attorneys who don't want to be there and see men in slippers complain about being wronged. And dear lord to many stripper heels and flip flops.
Flip flops are not court appropriate
I did see who I think is Quentin Terintino take the stand a d get assigned mental health treatment. Also a guy failed to appear, had a felony warrant and a bench warrant and they did not revoke his bail. Yet I was Gunna get locked up for not attending this retarded circus
Anywho after another hour or so the lovely Rose Phillips took the stand. And by lovely I mean 21 year old Hispanic woman, morbidly obese, neck tattoos and corn rows. Scalp is sexy. She pled no contest and court went on. I waited patiently for Juan and Luis, to be called or something to happen, just a dad accused of stalking his sons girlfriend and a crack head sayin it wasn't his crack.
At 1125 they took another break so I went to the DA office to find out wtf, and the clerk says the men had already pleaded and I wasn't needed, someone should have called. Wait, why FUCKING check me in then???? I lost it and started crying and said they were just fundraisers, I wanted to be treated as a human and so on, like a crazy lady. They lead me in the back and into a locked room... I figured this is where telling them they were rapists was going to get me some jail time, but instead after like half an hour it was just they figured out they f'd up and wanted to fix it.
Not much can be done, the 3 are going to jail which they told me I should be happy about but really that means I'm paying for their toilet paper. And they can't reimburse me from jail. It's a loose loose situation. Or loose get fisted by the system..... Uuuugggghhh don't get shit stolen from you. Or just kill who took it. Now I get to go to work, joy! Btw gentleman friend is a hero for helping me through this

Grilled Cheese and New Look
Hey all! How is everyone? Its been a long time but I do have a recipe for you! Actually a few variations on Grilled Cheese, which is one of my favorite meals :) its cheap, delish, and a crowd pleaser. For this day I had a stale baguette, lots of cheeses and other varios things, so this is what I came up with to refresh the bread and make a super yummo meal :) Look at that thing! Amazing.
Ingrediants-
Baguette
Mozzarella
Dubliner
Apricot Preserves
Butter
Chicken Broth (stay with me...)
Start with the stale baguette, yours may be fresh but mine was rock hard! Slice in half. Get a pan on medium heat with some butter in it. Once the butter is melted, get the insides of the baguette roasty toasty. Flip the bread and spread the preserves on the inside of the baguette. Layer the mozzarella and dubliner in once side and put the top on that puppy! Now because my bread was so stale, to refresh it, I flipped mine top down, added a little chicken broth to the pan and covered. This allowed the bread to steam in chickeny goodness!!
Once the broth evaporated, I took the lid off, upped the heat a bit and crisped the bread. I have to tell ya this worked AMAZING, infact I did it again but this time with Cheddar, Blue Cheese and Fig spread! YUM!
Also for those who read the actual blog, I have done some updates! New header and more... Things will be changing around some more BUT this is the fun for now! Stay tuned, more Darlene updates will be coming, art, recipes and some Lion's joy!! :D

Fun, Food and Bacon!!
So to begin, the other day at work I forgot my lunch, and so headed over to the local convenience store and got some snackies, including POPCORN BALLS! They were so yummy!!! :D Mom used to make them when I was a kid, and these tasted much like those.
At work they have had a problem with fruit flies all over the lunch room. Its terrifying, and the managers are trying to put up signs and deal, but people seem to like the infestation? Anywho, here is one of the signs, I drew the little fly and the attack of the flies note. :)
So last night we did some bacon preliminaries. We had to test out some recipes, and they were AMAZING!! First I assembled the Bacon Bomb. This involved weaving strips of bacon, filling it with sausage, cheddar and chives, then rolling it up and roasting it till cooked. Next we made some cheddar jalapenio poppers, then wrapped those in bacon and fried then a second time. (GF got a deep fryer). We also made sausages wrapped in bacon and deep fried, some blue cheese bacon grilled cheese, and BLT's. HOLY SHIT. It was so good!! Bacon day will be the best!!
This weekend the lovely Gentleman Friend took me out for Pizza and Mimosa's at Cafe Avilino. We ate breakfast pizza, which has sundried tomato pesto, egg and cheese, then bacon and sausage. For my second piece I had pepperoni and it was delightful as well :) SO GOOD!!! We each drank a caraf of mimosa then I headed into work... In a very nice mood :) When I got back to his house we tried the juice boxes of wine. Their pretty terrible but hilarios!

At the house my African Violet is blooming! Well, A bloom. So pretty!! I also made a salad that came out super pretty
